Ask HN: Will WebAssembly benefit from a second-mover advantage?
I was wondering whether the write once, run everywhere dreams of the 90s has planted an irresistible idea in software developers minds and whether WASM will bring that idea to client side applications.
For whatever reason the Java GUIs never really took off and creating performant frontend applications that run on all three major desktop OSes is still a major pain to this day.
So to paraphrase for emphasis: Will WebAssembly succeed where the JVM failed and make it easy for Developers to create heavy lifting frontend apps on any platform?
