Frankly, I'm more disappointed with the writing prompt:

The ultimate question of life, the Universe, and Everything—to which the answer is indeed 42—does not "neatly explain" any question. What it does do, however, is explain how the answer 42 neatly explains the answers to those.
Just like in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, you can't blame the AI for failing to give the answer you were looking for. It was just asked the wrong question.
