Tbf, WoW will run on just about anything... I remember playing it on an Acer (or maybe Lenovo?) netbook back in 2009/10. Checked it out from school right before Christmas break so I would have a computer at home for a month.

In the article here they show Minecraft running at native res and 60 fps. No small feat nowadays considering draw distances that are popular now.

It’s not just WoW and Minecraft. I’ve seen screenshots of Dota 2 highest settings running over 100 FPS. Borderlands 3, a graphics beast, at ultra settings, running about 30 FPS. Unoptimized. On a low-end Mac with an M1 chip!

It didn't run smoothly on my maxed out 2018 MBP 15". I was getting 25fps in bgs with medium graphics settings. And needless to say, the fans were always on.

40fps in Stormwind on 2080Ti @1440p with highest settings.

It doesn't run on my 2015 iMac 27" with anything near even medium settings... That's with a Radeon R9 M380, 24GB memory, 3.2 GHz i5.

So I find it hard to believe that it will run with max settings / 60 fps on the new MBP, despite the lower native screen resolution.

Believe it.

People are exaggerating a little bit, but this is the low end machine with 8GB RAM and only 7 GPU cores. So you can see it's pretty good in worst case. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQoGPLO8zBI

It drops to 25fps with not much happening on the screen, no water and no crowded area, at 1440p. This guy also mentions dropping to 30fps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ubyXiY4N2o

The comments here also say 25fps on max settings in Stormwind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIbEIhizoXY

Yes but again, this is missing one of the GPU cores, so that's quite a drop in performance.

I have no motivation to exaggerate. The game does run buttery smooth with no heck ups even in very crowded areas.

I don't know what your motivation is, but 60fps is simply not possible. I bought one now (8G/512G) and hooked it up to the 4K TV.

At native 4K and max settings, it's in the low 20's.

At 1920x1080 and max settings it's at ~35fps. To get it close to 60fps it needs level 7 details at 1920x1080. That's in non-crowded typical quest areas.
