Google groups now requires sign in

Until recently, I could go to https://groups.google.com/ and browse archives of Usenet groups. Now, going to that address requires me to sign into Google. I am curious if others have noticed the change as well.

I am not aware of any other archives of the comp.lang.* groups. Any suggestions?
