I'm trying to get feedback on the idea, because I think it is very simple and can work very good and scale and everything -- but it's so simple I keep wondering why no one ever tried it.

But I also have some very basic prototypes in place: https://nostr-client.bigsun.xyz/#/ (here's the amazing web client), and two relays running: https://nostr-relay.bigsun.xyz and https://vstonks.bigsun.xyz.

And here's one profile I just made: https://nostr-client.bigsun.xyz/#/0305886207fc2e8b0c5285119b...

I can’t judge on the protocol specifics but if installing and getting a userid can be as easy as literally pushing one button this can pick up. Currently it looks very slick and thus promising!

I like the name. It reminds me of GNU, which is Not UNIX. So nostr is no str, or something ;-) But is compact and not a monstr either.

Naming things is very hard, as the saying goes, this name is turning out to be better than expected now that you uncovered the secret "no str" meaning :)

Just a suggestion on popularizing: There are a few popular people who crosspost to various sites beyond Twitter. Maybe you could find out what solution they use to cross post and write a nostr plug-in. This way nostr could quickly gain the following it deserves.

I’m sure you didn’t intend anything by it, but you might not want to use the phrase “final solution” in your marketing given that Nazis are a prominent banned-from-Twitter group.

Thank you, yes, I didn't know that. It's a shame, because it's such a nice phrase.
