Can't you just ignore the built in configuration and roll your own (probably there's a dotenv library?). That said, I've also personally moved away from C# despite really likeing the lanaguage due to a lacking ecosystem.

I'd recommend both node with TypeScript and Rust for backend web development in a statically typed langauge.

We started to use F# with Elm and it works very well. Statically typed all the way.

This year I converted a standard F#+Giraffe backend and React+Typescript frontend to use Feliz [0] with Fable.Remoting [1] and it has been a pleasant experience.

why not go all the way with fable + elmish for the Frontend?

Good question, in my experience using Feliz is easier to integrate with existing react components. For state management I use `UseElmish` [0] so I get an experience that's pretty close to pure Fable + elmish.

C# lacks and ecosystem... I understand that.

But C# lacks an ecosystem compared to Rust? I don't understand that.

The last time i looked into it, all the big cloud providers lacked officially supported Rust SDKs.

Rusoto for AWS is unofficial but excellent (and auto-generated off of the official botocore API definitions).
