Partly because of the voter turnout. By % wise its not a huge difference.

It's interesting that Trump and Biden both have exceeded the previous record-holder for most votes: Obama in 08.

To me, a more plausible explanation is that Trump is uniquely unpopular with black voters.

Trump increased his popularity with both Black men and women.

Biden just got an even bigger increase in metro areas from Blacks, and a higher % of D Black votes than any President ever (including Obama in 2008).
