So not only does Google make tons of money by training AI for free, blocking Tor users, and being all around evil - but they're going to make website operators pay for reCAPTCHA now. Wow.
Don’t forget tracking which is almost impossible to block and promoting Chrome by annoying its users less
Exactly! They're making money on all sides. The training, the enterprise, and we actually pay them for GCP.
I believe this is an opportunity. Say anonymous/private recaptcha software or services.
It seems they are (or slowly will start) charging all high volume users. Read this happened with Cloudflare too...
What makes them think they should start charging now?
Also, have you looked at hcaptcha.com? Cloudflare uses them.
Can anyone comment on what the fee structure is?
$1 per 1000 calls. They gave us a discount, but at our scale it would still break the bank.
