Ask HN: Would the cauchy distribution help with mitigating timing based attacks?

From what I know, having a random delay to mitigate them doesn't work because you can average the time.

Along with that, the Cauchy distribution apparently has no average from my knowledge standpoint. So, would it make sense to use it to mitigate timing based attacks?
