The best way to help, imho, is to improve IPFS, Federation protocols, for example for Gitea[1][2] or GitLab[3][4]. Or just sponsor them[5].

Run and hide?

Wouldn't it be better to crowdfund a suit for a knowingly false claim? Or lobby the powers that be to improve things to remove "knowingly" from the text?

What do you mean "run and hide"? Developing tools to protect yourself from this nonsense is running and hiding? Is it only winning if you win the hard way? Was the development of BitTorrent running and hiding?

I think the parent's point is that instead of depending on tools that are hard to shut down, we should be working to change the legal climate that makes them necessary.

IMO we should do both.

Crowdfunding can bring in a lot of money, but I have some doubt that it can outcompete RIAA/MPA in terms of lobbying money.

Call me naive but just having the most money shouldn't be the make-or-break for laws; making the right argument has value too.

The money's to grease the wheels, to get your argument to the right people, etc.

The source code for ForgeFed[1][2] might be also of interest for improvement.

Do not forget the original version, Gogs.

But git itself is not decentralized, but rather replicated. There's always master repo from which others fork and merge, that master repo will be always the kill spot.

Blockchain saves the day again, once scaling is solved.

Fortunately the Ethereum development community has a unified focus right now.

Quality satire, please keep it up.

The only thing blockchain folks are doing really reliably is scamming the hell out of people.

Don't forget about wasting electricity!
