No code is an illusion. You're still structuring logic and procedures for a machine. Knowing how to do that is still important for these systems.

Agree. I can't stop wondering, though, will things always be this way?

Yes. Managers want "no code" because devs are expensive and make lots of mistakes. They believe some software will fix that, not realizing that all software is devs, all the way down.

I've known people who set up IFTTT and Zapier for production without too much trouble.

"No code" doesn't mean "no logic". It's just a different UI for writing code, specifically one that is accessible to people who don't know how to write code.

If there were no value in that, we wouldn't see widespread use of things like Zapier or Tableau.
