Nobody's ever challenged Ford's pardon of Nixon.

It's actually real unclear what the legality of it would be if a subsequent President had tried to arrest him.

What makes you say it's unclear? It's considered settled, even though the Supreme Court has never had to rule on it.

The Supreme Court has previously found excuses to dodge the question of the validity of pre-charge pardons, it is very much an open issue.

It's been surmised that "resign and get pardoned" may happen again in our lifetimes.
