While "death ears" sounds like a great metal band name, the correct expression is "deaf ears" :)

I think it's OK to use centralized services for small amounts of cryptocurrency, just like you would put a small amount of cash in your wallet.

For large amounts, use cold wallets. Not your keys, not your coin.

Privacy is a big reason to not use custodians even for small amounts.

I don't view privacy as attainable with cryptocurrency anyway.

It is with Monero.
