I don't like the tone of this article, it doesn't make a distinction between abusive and non-abusive use of this technology.

I could see creating a deepfake of someone you know on facebook and then extorting them a form of abuse. But is rendering a deep fake of Donald Trump jerking off really hurting anybody? (except whoever views it)
