Not just Jira. It's all Server products.

Here is their blog post: https://www.atlassian.com/blog/announcements/journey-to-clou...

The wording is a bit strange. Their datacenter (self hosted) products are not affected, as confirmed by our Atlassian admin.

Too bad the data center version is incredibly expensive, and going up again.

I'm a fan of Jira (don't judge), but yeah, this is a death sentence for Jira as a company.

In your (and my) shoes I'd be researching alternatives ASAP.

You've got 4 years. I'll worry about it in 2023.

Well, two points:

a) With the blatant price gouging and value destruction Atlassian is doing, are you willing to take chances by waiting and doing nothing? (I'm not.)

b) Two years is about the right timeframe for migrating to something else.

P.S. I'm exactly the person who is making the decision to buy Jira at my organization. I'm also the guy who is pushing for Jira adoption despite significant resistance. As of today, I'm cancelling the Jira upgrade budget for 2021 and planning a replacement ASAP.

I use JIRA at home for side projects and every job I've had for the last decade used it at work.

Personally, I will worry about replacing it in 2023. Professionally, it's not my problem to worry about.

As for the replacement for people who want to run something like that on their own server, well, anyone down with writing some code? I am.

*Unless you want to purchase any new products, in which case you've got just over 3 months to do so.

End of new sales: (Feb 2 2021) End of user upgrades: (Feb 2 2022) End of renewals: (Feb 2 2023) End of support: (Feb 2 2024)

What self hosted alternatives exist?

Jira has finally become a fully self-correcting problem.
