Is Twitter Down?

join mastodon !!!

Wake me when they have transparent open governance like the Debian project

Who are “they”? Some instances have open governance, and other don't. There is no central power to dictate how things are done.

In Linux we see that even in a federated model, particular instances matter. Is there a server, or set of servers, we should coalesce around?

Incident status page: https://api.twitterstat.us/incidents/wsxhhcv26r9n

It seems a bit odd having a Twitter API status page that claims everything is operational when it hasn't been for a while. I guess the 'Check if things are working' API has also failed

Getting an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error from https://twitter.com/i/api/2/timeline/home.json (in Developer Tools) along with the message '{"errors":[{"message":"Internal error","code":131}]}' which means an unknown internal error occurred: https://developer.twitter.com/en/support/twitter-api/error-t...

The status page still shows green: https://api.twitterstat.us/

There we go: "Investigating Irregularity with Twitter APIs: Investigating - We are currently investigating this issue. More updates to come. Oct 15, 21:56 UTC"

It is over capacity https://downdetector.com/status/twitter/. I tried to tweet and got an error message "over capacity"

Can it be permanent?

Maybe temporary due to the New York Post's article..who knows

Why was this down voted? It was enough to prompt Senate activity. I myself thought the timing was likely related.

I miss the fail whale

I was just thinking this! Remember the days when this happened every other week?

I can access specific tweets ie. this one from current HN homepage: https://twitter.com/ryan_caldbeck/status/1316730252295454720 but not my feed

Tfw.... Trying to login to twitter to find out if twitter is down...smh

Can't tweet, can't load tweets. Glad it's not just me!

Per status.twitter.com:

October 15, 2020 10:10PM UTC [Investigating] We know people are having trouble Tweeting and using Twitter. We’re working to fix this issue as quickly as possible.

Only tweet that's been posted recently : https://twitter.com/hyunzaki/status/1316868346139365381

nvm found another https://twitter.com/robovape/status/1316868007201824770

I just tried to post and I get the message: "Something went wrong, but don’t fret — it’s not your fault."

It’s loading for me but I can’t tweet.

Yeah, I'm getting lots of CORS related errors for api.twitter.com using Firefox on Windows.

The only happy consequence is that it's probably driving a certain person nuts right now.

Timeline is down, but you can look at feeds for hashtags or individual users.

FWIW timeline is loading for me, but I am not able post a tweet.

I am in the Bay Area.

Could this be related?

Twitter being over capacity makes me wonder what event just hit

all systems operational according to https://api.twitterstat.us/

down for me tho

I still cannot tweet. I just tried it now. I get the message "Something went wrong, but don’t fret — let’s give it another shot."

Feels awfully quiet on the twitter timeline right now.

FWIW, USPS tracking page is incredibly slow right now

My guess is the two competing town halls, and people trying to live tweet them.

That and the Twitter drama today have probably driven up traffic. Not sure if that's enough to test their limits, but maybe.

Same for me. Toronto

Not working for me.

Not for me...

Yes for me.

definitely down

Mine too. I'm from Toronto. I think it's related to the whole Biden controversy
