Magic-Wormhole: Get Things from One Computer to Another, Safely

This is cool, but croc[1] offers the same interface, but with much, much lighter code and an overall better experience (and documentation). It's been posted to HN before[2].

I had this exact idea at a hackathon in 2013, except we did it as a website instead of a CLI so that a) nontechnical users could use it, and b) you could go-between any random device, including a phone. Implemented a working MVP and everything; no account-creation, just upload your file or text and get a download code. It worked great, but didn't really take off and eventually I shut down the server. Now I generally message myself on Slack, when it's between my own devices.

If you want to do it cross platform its better with Croc, magic wormhole needs 1.4GB worth of dependencies to build it on windows. No pre-built is available, but some third party go lib is suggested but I dont prefer that, since protocol is not defacto. Croc runs cross platform and works faster than magic wormhole.

I’m really surprised there isn’t an iOS client for magic-wormhole. It’s unfortunate that the project was implemented in python, otherwise we might’ve seen it get ported to more platforms.
