That's surprising, since I'd expect Australian accents to pronounce the first "o" as a schwa (think the second "o" in "doctor"), which is in a way similar to the French "a".

It’s the “Kak” bit. We’d say it in a way that rhymes with “back”. But we’d say “Coc” in “Cocoon” in a way that sounds like “cook”.

...for the record, I got that slightly wrong. Australian pronounciation of the initial "Co" in "Cocoon" is more like "Kuh".
