I've appreciate the honesty here. Even if they are going back on their word, Badowski is still taking responsibility and I feel that's an important facet to consider. CD Projekt Red has taken a rare game development stance by basically saying "it'll be ready when it's ready". At some point business requirements become unavoidable and even in the face of those requirements they're trying to remain honest about the situation. That says a lot to me.
I'll be buying the game and fully support any delays or bugs that might come with the product.
Sometimes game developers pour too much gasoline on the hype fire and it ends up backfiring spectacularly. No Man's Sky comes to mind, although in that case it was far more egregious (false statements by the CEO on the capabilities of the product).
