First, their biggest competitor is Samsung, nobody cares what Intel is doing these days it seems. That has to feel weird for the folks over at Intel. But if you've lived through this change in leadership, keep it in mind when you see a company that is "so far of everyone it is impossible to catch up." Technology changes, companies can lose their lead when they fail to adapt.
Second, the geopolitical risks around semiconductors are off the charts. Taiwan, which is probably next in line to be annexed after Hong Kong would put TSMC solidly under the control of mainland China, and Samsung which lives in the shadow of a nuclear armed bully who has aspirations of greatness. Put "Neither Samsung nor TSMC can make chips for the US or its allies" into your scenario evaluation platform and see what that gets you. Not a happy place.
Third, 2nm really? That is so freakishly dense that if your phone doesn't light your pocket on fire from heat dissipation it will be able to achieve even more remarkable feats without having to go to "the network" for help. As a technologist it impresses me, as a guy who was awestruck by owning his own 8 bit computer in high school it simply amazes me.
