I can't think of a factory car running a sub 9 second quarter mile, and I can't think of a time I've seen a car run that time at a track then drive itself back home (and I spend a lot of friday nights at test-and-tunes), they are towed.
A 1:30 at Leguna Seca is also insane. That's Viper ACR / Ferrari 488 GTB / McLaren P1 levels of performance. I'd like to know who their test driver is, because if one of their engineers did that, then the performance is even more insane.

But for $43k you could also get a Model 3 SR+...

German cars use to have a speed limit of 155mph and Porsche even sold factory rollbars for the GT series of cars (Not in US because of --Freedom-- laws). I sure hope Musk is considering safety with these ~5000 lbs rockets.
Apparently the frame is a monster too, so it might qualify there somehow.
For my understanding - do you mean that they're not road legal, or that they're not reliable enough for day-to-day off-track use?
But they usually have drag radials with skinny fronts, stripped interiors and high-stall torque converters. Which combine to make the car really hard to drive on the street.
Still, good numbers. Wouldn’t buy one anyway. I like sound.
