I work with linux kernel and boot stuff a lot at the moment. That page doesn't tell me at a glance, someone with technical knowhow, what the actual problem is.

If i have to dive into a bunch of mailing list tickets to find out, that isn't very well described.

I'd still be interested in the actual summary of the issue if anyone has it.

I like the way systemd manages services by using linux cgrouos, whats the alternative on this? I don't honestly wanna keep writing custom bash init scripts

Recommend me good distros without systemd then. I have been searching for one but i can't find the real good one.

So,given that there are no good competitors , i don't really bother about this anymore. But,if there were good alternative choices , I would think of it.

Good is very subjective :) but I've enjoyed using void linux [1] which has runit [2] rather than systemd. I believe a few other distros support runit (albeit maybe not officially), including Arch Linux.

Personally, I got tired of managing a Gentoo and switched to Alpine and a Debian chroot for binaries linked with glibc (steam, chrome, ...).

Alpine is amazing for container work and minimal systems. I really love using it where I can.

Artix is pretty good; just arch without systemd. I like alpine, too, though using musl can pose some issues.
