It looks like a minor non issue to me. But this being California, I imagine the kind of people in that before mentioned circle jerk might include lawyers, politicians, etc. that are looking to get in on the action (i.e. lawsuits, publicity, and other melodrama) that has nothing to do with the actual technical problem. The latter I imagine is a simple matter of this company getting off their ass and replacing the rusting parts in question.
In short, what's the agenda of the person that wrote this?
Maybe I just had low-expectations when I clicked through and I was pleasantly surprised that it represented a useful failure analysis.
twitter/FB/etc serve as infomation sinkholes. sure, you may get a million likes and RT'd by influencers such as Kanye, but after a few days, whatever you wrote is forgotten and no longer discoverable. then it's as if you never wrote it at all, because nobody else will ever find it.
i miss the old web. i miss web rings. i miss just casually surfing from link to link and stumbling across serendipitous information dense and concisely written essays about some thing out there in the world that taught me valuable knowledge.
social media must die. the old web must return.
