Ask HN: What tools does the news use?
I'm thinking about politics specifically, though this is a more general question. How do writers get context when reporting about, for example, the passage of a bill in the legislature? Who voted which way, what were their previous votes on this bill, what were their previous votes on similar bills, what are their published policy points, what have they said publicly about this bill, what have they said about similar bills, what analysis has been done on the bill, what has already been written or broadcast about this bill, what has the president said about the bill, etc.?
This would be a great application for a knowledge graph. I'm envisioning a tool that allows for browsing and searching, in addition to a browser extension that automatically adds context and links to context directly to the web page being viewed.
