Ask HN: Who is mentoring or capable of mentoring?

It's been my experience that I haven't been able to meet anyone able to adapt to the current environment enough to feel like they had anything advantageous to try to pass on to younger people. Are there any exceptions? Universities neglected me in an extreme way, I know that I could help someone.
