Ask HN: Did you go back and get a CS degree? Where? Was it worth it?

I am a "self taught" software developer with five years of professional experience.

My first job was a "support engineer" that just required rudimentary development knowledge and I've worked up from there to become in title a "software engineer".

I struggle to call myself an "engineer" because of the lack of a degree, and recently I feel that it's been a barrier to finding a new job.

I've been considering getting a degree (I dropped out of college) but with my family and work, it would need to be online. Naturally this is also leading me to need to clearly define what I want to get out of the degree and maybe if that's even what I want to study.

So in short, did you go back and get a CS degree? And if so, where and was it worth it?
