Ask HN: Personality in Darwinism
I was just browsing the web, contemplating the mysteries of the universe :) When it struck me as really odd when you sit and think about how Donald Trump's personality can be so off putting to so many yet so magnetic for others.
One of the interesting stories I recall reading about was "Angraecum sesquipedale" [1].
That was a physical phenomenon that was predicted (the long proboscis needed to pollinate the flower). For a split second a thought came to me "what about personality traits?". Are there any theories / branches of study which postulate similar "match making" between different people based on personality traits?
In one way you could think that maybe the people who are loyal to Trump are similar to him and that's why they love him so much. Then again, what if there's some hidden phenomenon where there are "counterpart personality traits" in people which naturally attract to one another?
