Trump Floats Idea of Delaying U.S. Presidential Election

Can you explain what this means, I keep seeing this in places and have no idea what anybody is talking about.
They're trying to suspend elections, and possibly pull dictator style election. Trump has been talking about this since 2017, and rubs shoulders with dictator types like Putin -- who just got his own political extension -- and Bolsonaro.
No, Mr. President. No. You don't have the power to move the election. Nor should it be moved. States and localities are asking you and Congress for funds so they can properly run the safe and secure elections all Americans want. Why don't you work on that?
I know that meme is supposed to make Trump's critics out to be deranged, pearl-clutching hysterics but the more often it's repeated, the more obviously correct it seems. Orange Man is actually bad. I agree.
Unless you mean there is no process for creating bumbling dictators, in which case there shouldn't be one. "Creating chaos" isn't the issue, it's enabling buffoonish authoritarians.
And make no mistake, if I was Trump I'd be holding on for dear life. As long as he's the POTUS he's mostly bulletproof, but all of those lawsuits and charges in NY and other states are going to continue aggressively once he's out of office. Right now he's a usable asset to Putin, to big business, the Saudis, or to whoever is pulling the strings this week, but once he's back to private citizenry he's on his own.
