Arm Macs won't support (real) Target Disk Mode

If I ever buy another Mac, I'll be booting off an external drive (though it's a matter of time till Apple walls that ability off, just wait!). The internal soldered, encrypted, TDM-via-SMB ssd doesn't sound like a place I want to store my work. Looks like I'll just be using it as a big cache folder.
This stinks.
As in an OEM one? They do pseudo-OEM ones (the LG Ultrasparc ones), but yeah, no Apple-branded one except the XDR.
