As far as way-too-lossy compression of written work goes, I wonder why 1984 and Brave New World are taught as dystopias? In the former, the 87+% of the population who are not Outer Party members have freedom of conscience, while in the latter, the islands sound very much like they'd be just as amusing and edifying places to live as Dante's First Circle.
I think there is a lot of negative snark in this piece and I don’t think it distracts from the information, so I’m not sure why it’s in there...
