Then use Wikipedia's secure URL at https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Main_PageEncryption without authentication is useless. If mybank.com only supports encryption, I have no idea whether I'm actually connected to mybank.com , or to the guy running tcpdump in the next booth.
Firefox gets a lot of grief (from idiots) for refusing self-signed certificates by default, but it's a huge credit to their security team that they've resisted the pressure to ease up.
