(Interfaces are to be printed out and to be discussed while looking at them mounted onto presentation boards. This is their primary purpose nowadays. – API's have still a way to go in order to catch up. E.g., we're still using calls like "Performance.measure()", where it really should be low contrast "Pink.mint()", which is also much prettier in a printed list of calls.)
Apple has "razor-sharp focus on a user many of us often fail to even consider: The potential user, the buyer", ignoring the needs of people who already paid their money.
If that's the way they are thinking about "the potential user," all they're saying is "we'd prefer to do our marketing ourselves, please; don't go around recommending our products."
