> 40% as powerful as the RTX 2080 Ti

Yeah... going to need to see the work on that one.

Keep in mind the A12Z drives a 2732×2048 display, at 120Hz (iPad Pro). That is a beast to drive for the GPU.

A 2080 Ti can do 4K at 80fps (Rise of the Tomb Raider).

For another source, AnandTech says the A12Z is a Xbox One S class GPU: https://www.anandtech.com/show/13661/the-2018-apple-ipad-pro...

Yea its not going to be 40% as powerful as a 2080TI when t comes to real world performance. It might do OK in special cases.

Going from the links he posted it runs PUBG @ 40FPS and a mobile racing game at 30 FPS. Those numbers don't agree with the assertion that its as powerful as a mid-range desktop GPU.

The resolution is too low to compare. You need to be GPU limited to test GPU performance.

Indeed, my 2080 Ti is about 30% faster than my old GTX 1080 at 1080p, yet almost twice as fast at 4K resolutions.

I don't have the exact numbers, YMMV

Wouldn't a fairer comparison be at a higher resolution? At this resolution it's probably not the GPU that is a bottleneck for a system with a 2080Ti in it.

Look, there are no unicorns and there is no magic. To get certain performance (fps) you'd need some power, even if the Apple stuff is twice more efficient (!) - it'd still draw like 50W+ or anywhere close to 40% of 2080TI.

Just driving regular UI stuff on a 4k screen is not hard - most low end notebook gpus can handle that easily. It's not comparable to running a modern 3d game at 4k.
