Can anyone post a rundown of this article? Medium is really getting annoying here.

Edit: https://outline.com/dET6YM for anyone else interested.

Block all JS on medium and you will have a better, faster experience overall and won't get these limitations.

It won't work with browsing from the medium frontpage, but personally I only read medium when linked to an article and there the experience is much better when JS is blocked.

Got the same message. Ok, I want to keep reading so I followed their polite instruction and logged in. Then Medium said I've read all of my free stories for the month. False advertising.

Tl;dr React Native communicates with native threads over json, which can be slow. Soon the JS will call native (UI) methods directly.

Just open an anonymous session with your browser and get passed the wall.

All you have to do is clear the site data and refresh the page.

You could also disabled JS or cookies but then you would not be able to read the comments if you wished to do so.

Ouch didn't know that JSON was used to shuffle data around in React Native. I've had quite a bit of success using GraalVM's polyglot Values along the React[js]/jvm boundary so I can see why they are moving in this direction.
