Also the 664 hours of training for the police doesn't include the months trainees ride with a partner for real on life the job training.
It's not a intellectually honest comparison.
In most other countries, this is done on top of actual in class and practical training rather than instead of.
It isn't "intellectually dishonest" to point out that police are under-trained and use a different career to highlight it. It is however intellectually dishonest to suggest that "on the job" training, which is to say working with the full powers and authority of a police officer, while ostensibly being "untrained" according to the internal logic of your argument is somehow acceptable.
Either police ARE ready to go out on the street at 664 hours, or they aren't. If they are then there's no reason count the "on the job" portion, and if they're not then maybe we shouldn't be letting untrained people out onto the street to figure it out on the fly. It is dangerous for them and for the public they interact with.
