Warning: You will have to give your email (and possibly $) to read the linked ebook.

There seems something more than a little sordid about linking to one's own stuff on HN in that way.

There is no indication that app4soft is Sacha Chua, who is considered by many to be a pillar of the Emacs community. I would not hesitate to trust her with my email address.

Correct. I only posted link to Sacha Chua's blog pages, but has no any relation to posted content.

On linked page there is a link to public SlideShare version of this book:

> 2014-02-24: Want it without letting me know your e-mail address? You can snag the PDF from Slideshare.[0] (You'll have to manually check for updates, though.)

Hmm I tried that, but you have to sign up to SlideShare. So I tried, and it wants me to sign up to LinkedIn. No thanks.

Yeah, that's ridiculous. Here, get it from https://sachachua.com/sharing/pdfs/2014-02-14%20A%20No-Excus... instead. Thanks for letting me know!

The helpful poster wasn't me, but I should totally make the PDF link easier to get to. No one should ever need to give me their email address for stuff. :)

Great! Would be really useful.

Apologies to all. It was too late to delete my asinine comment by the time I wanted to.

No worries! It's always good to have a healthy dose of skepticism on the Net.

So glad you saw this! :-) I was undoubtedly feeling irritated by the super-impressiveness of your blog post. Thanks for the link too.

edit: Just discovered https://pages.sachachua.com/sharing/ - thanks so much for putting that online.

The only comparable thing I've seen (and not so similar) is Cosma Shalizi's bactra.org - the Notebooks section is amazing, and a lot of his Reviews are great.
