Ask HN: What do you use Twitter for?

I never used Twitter. But this year (2020) I do find myself going to specific people’s Twitter page from time to time. Just curious to know what people actually use Twitter for and what are the best ways to use it so it doesn’t become a Facebook feed where you just mindlessly keep scrolling or jumping within Twitter to others tweets and their pages.

My hunch is twitter can be a great source of what’s happening right now or what people that you are interested in have said. And I would like to use it for that but note sure if there is a easy way to do it beside exercising self discipline

So 1)what are you using Twitter for ? 2) what are your best practices to use it productively?
