Dr. Fauci Backed Wuhan Lab with US Dollars for Coronavirus Research

There was an excellent discussion about this a couple months ago:

Focusing on Fauci is weird here. He's been head of NIAID since 1984; the moratorium in question was put in place during the Obama administration, and lifted during the Trump administration.

i'd say this is the key, not Dr. Fauci:

>The work in question was a type of gain-of-function research that involved taking wild viruses and passing them through live animals until they mutate into a form that could pose a pandemic threat. Scientists used it to take a virus that was poorly transmitted among humans and make it into one that was highly transmissible—a hallmark of a pandemic virus.

Couple that with State Department expressed concerns about 4 years ago about the safety procedures at those Wuhan labs. Personal conspiracy theory-wise - I'd also add the willingness of Chinese death row inmates to donate organs while alive. Compare to that getting infected with a SARS type virus probably would look like a great luck.

In general it reminds the Chernobyl experiment - lets take the second safety system offline and test how the first one would perform. Well, in science any result of experiment is a result, and in both cases we did obtain the results.
