Ask HN: Alternatives to Watchman ? (file/dir watching tool)

Can anyone suggest alternatives to Watchman (https://facebook.github.io/watchman/) for use on Linux ?

Watchman seems to be verging on abandonware. Last stable official release dated 2017, no real github pushes, just auto bot entries. Build issues etc.

What is everyone else using for this sort of thing ? (apart from those who know C and have hacked up their own).
