I painted a door next to my desk with Rust-oleum's Dry Erase paint. Worked quite nicely.

One of the offices I worked at a few years ago had this on several walls and I thought it was a great idea. They even had wood trim around it so that it looked like a huge whiteboard.

We got IdeaPaint for our office, it's pretty cool.
