I wonder how much bank needs to be hurting to call in a loan / call in your mortgage to try to sell it for a fraction of a price in some unknown distant future.

Pretty sure residential mortgages cannot be called.

Edit: assuming the borrower is current.

In some places in the US, not more than 2 or 3 months. That's all they need to start a foreclosure.
