Ask HN: Is there anyone trying to disrupt the car insurance business?
Hey!
I'm in this weird position where car insurances are just too expensive (300$/month for two new drivers), so my wife and I decided not to get a car.
Getting by with zipcars and turo and other rental services mean 10k$ of coverage for third-party liabilities, which is pretty much nothing and could send us to bankruptcy (or we would have to consider leaving the US).
Looking into third-party liability insurances for rentals only, we get back to our original problem (it's impossible to get an easy quote or compare prices because of scammy practices, and prices are generally high)
