Note that there are other considerations like absolute allocation speed, like memory fragmentation, which isn't affected by inlining. In the ithare post they link, jemalloc thrashes all other allocators[1] on that front. It would be interesting to see if the newer version of tcmalloc is improved at all in that respect.
