Poll: What is the average monthly income from mobile apps?

If you have iPhone/iPad or Android apps on market, how much do you earn from it?

Average monthly income:

I admit I grow tired of that kind of posts. Doesn't it depend on the app and how well you market it? It is already well known that you can earn a lot of money, but also not so much money, depending on your luck, effort and dedication.

Just to throw my 2 cents in. With the new Mac App Store, it's not just about mobile apps only. There's good money to be found in all flavors of app stores. http://www.10millionapps.com/2011/02/anatomy-of-a-mac-app-st...

Wouldn't the median be a bit more useful? The highest selling apps will tend to skew the average upwards. The median would be more useful to determine what the average app creator might make.

I've had my one game app in the Android Market free and full for about 9 months now. Its making $400 a month now. $150 from actual sales $250 from ads. Only recently ad revenue makes more than sales and increasing. At the point when 50,000 users keep it on their devices is when ad revenue started making real money at around 20,000 impressions a day.

I'm around $150 a month with my android apps, Most of my apps are free with donation versions, but I just released my first paid only app 'POV Live Wallpaper' and curious to see what it will do ;)

The $83,332-83,333 seems like an odd boundary. Can anyone explain why this particular boundary is important?

You might get some idea if you convert it to annually.

Indeed. Thanks. The .333(repeating) should've given it away.

Just wondering, if the graph would look like http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/201x/2011/02/26/Mobile-Mon...

actually, for me the revenue is steadily growing. That's the advantage of ad-based revenue

Tim Bray's graph isn't of revenue against time, it's of revenue against rank (i.e., whether the app is the best, second-best, third-best, in terms of revenue).

At the beginning of the football [American] season: about $5k. Around now: $2.5k.

How many apps?

what kind of app is it?

It's in his profile. Visit http://reflect7.com/

It would be a good idea for all voters to specify which platform brings them money, and if the money comes from ads or from selling apps. For me, it's Android, ad-based applications.

~$15 / month total from three apps in the app store. Two paid, one ad-based. Half comes from ads.

iOS, actual app sales.

My ad-supported app has been going through review for two months! Ouch.

Android, actual app sales

Android, two ad-based apps.

iOS, actual app sales

iOS, actual app sales, only in the Dutch market.
