And I think the very fact that people are not being able to tell that right away tells about the times America is in
When the shit really hits the fan, the US can close it's borders to imports/exports, retool its economy for war, and eventually out-produce anyone. There are a large combination of factors that make this true. Generally the US is seen to have the highest potential in worst case scenarios.
Without an intention to slight you, I'm asking "Does America has much to mobilise?"
US is no longer the same America of thirties. America of thirties, even despite of the great depression, was still a country of great industrialists, brave frontiermen, and a lot of hungry people.
Despite all the s__t the country went through in thirties, it was still on the upward trend, and leading the world in the industry. Now look what a country USA is now. It's not an America of Carnegies, and Fords.
I was once entrusted to setup a mini side business in my last workplace in Canada — a scooter assembly workshop. We tried to open the assembly plant in parallel in British Columbia, and Washington state. Neither plants went anywhere.
I wrote about what problems we faced a few times on HN.
I was unable to hire plain assembly line workers who can wire a harness with 4 connectors, colour coded, and supplied with mechanical keys on them. This is something I can hire highschoolers for in China.
Finding assembly line engineers was an even bigger problem. The only guy who qualified was a Chinese engineer who moved to the US. He very much realised what situation we are in, and demanded $80k+
I spent the remaining time in that business manning an SMT line myself.
