Maybe in the end the CFR will be the same as the regular flu.

It has already proven to be far worse than the flu in its strain on healthcare systems.

Isn't that largely due to a lack of immunity? Too many people getting it at once in clusters?

If this becomes a cyclical thing, I'm sure we'll have vaccines for it like we do the flu, at which point it'll just be annoying like the flu is.

The only thing that matters in the end is total population mortality rate.

That is a bad metric. The death rate could be really bad yet the overall death rate would still not change very much.

If I am the only person on the planet with a 100% deadly disease why should I force everyone else to suffer because of me?

The fear and suffering alone is enough to have a negative effect on people, so it matters.

So is shutting down the entire worlds economy. That has massive, very real impacts well beyond just money.

Ya, but the anxiety of thinking you might sick and die also has negative impacts beyond just money.
