Problem is that dollar cost averaging becomes nigh impossible if you loose your job because of the situation.

Yeah you shouldn't gamble your cash cushion. Just if you have extra cash you've been waiting to invest, or have been cost averaging, etc.

Prepare to not have a job - always.
