Ask HN: best communication practices at great companies?

I work at a startup where people aren't very good at sharing information with other teams. This creates trust and communication barriers, reduced transparency, unclear roadmaps etc. What best communication practices did you take from working at other companies? E.g. how you collect and share team updates, through which channels, how often, to what audience. What problems it solves?
