Ask HN: Is Facebook still using memcached?
I've followed Facebook's engineering team through the site's meteoric rise. It's what got me into PHP in the first place.
Unfortunately, Facebook's presentations at different conferences these days seem to cover mobile apps and complex global datacentre solutions rather than the basic web tier like in the early days.
Is the company still using memcached? The Memcached at Facebook page has been silent for 2014. I also don't see it mentioned in infrastructure talks anymore.
Did they come up with a better solution (McDipper/Flashcache) or is it just a tried and tested solved problem/legacy system?
