This is gatekeeping trash.

This dude isn't the authority on who gets to be a hacker and who isnt. I work with some bootcamp grads who have "earned" their skills every bit as much as the "real" hackers this dude's yammering about. This clubhouse bullshit needs to die. If that's what's getting killed I'm all for it.

I agree. I know somebody who did a bootcamp and is precisely a hacker, does things needed to be done to get the job done. I also know someone with a degree who isn't and complains about not knowing a framework, despite doing the same type of work (web development) in several frameworks.

Hackers learn whatever which way works best for them. I partially agree though there's people who code but don't give off the hacker vibe, some of these people are great at their jobs, some are not (usually the juniors, and will likely stay juniors for a while).

Edit:

Some of the rest is gibberish, I guess most of it is, I know fantastic hackers who have no idea about algorithms. Hackers are into niches and learn what they must for their niche point of interest.

As for where startups come from, and what have you, why should it matter if it provides quality to the world?

tl;dr Arrogant, condescending, idiotic hot-take by someone with less than 500 followers and no authority to pass judgment on who is or isn't a hacker.
